Traffic Studies Courses

Starting January 1, 2027, the sequence of driver training will change:
Traffic Safety Education (VKU) must now be completed before the written test.

The VKU consists of 8 lessons and teaches important fundamentals regarding traffic awareness, hazard perception, responsible and defensive driving, as well as modern driver-assistance systems.

After completing the VKU, you can take the written test. Once you pass the written test, you will receive your learner’s permit and can begin your driving lessons.

The new process starting in 2027:
Apply for a learner’s permit → VKU → theory exam → learner’s permit → driving lessons → practical exam

Transitional provision:
If you received approval for a learner’s permit by December 31, 2026, at the latest, the previous regulations generally still apply to you.
